My work blends intricate pen and ink with surreal, nature-inspired forms, exploring movement, metamorphosis, and the quiet power of observation.
My work is experimental, abstract and embossed. Collagraph, etching, watercolour, collage and encaustic works. My main love is abstracting the essence of the landscape in richly coloured textured works, often enhanced with silver and gold leaf. Recent works include a series of watercolour paintings with collagraph embossings. My early experience as a theatrical designer has led to a sculptural approach to printmaking, and I have developed a method of inking using the different levels of the plate, mixing primary colours on the matrix, thus producing a shimmer of colour, much as lighting a stage set. My work develops though the materials I use. My current on-going fascination is with erosion, weather patterns, natural textures, growth formations and universal organic forms.

My name is Francesco Casolari and I'm from Bologna, a city in Northern Italy. I began engraving at the age of 6 under the guidance of my maternal grandmother, who is a painter. My first plates were drypoint, then around 12 I began etching. Immediately after high school, during my first years of university, I was noticed by galleries in my city and began to have my first exhibitions.
Frasquito Raymond-Gil Urquijo, born in Jerez de la Frontera, is a grotesque, tragicomic, and unapologetically absurd alter ego of his creator—a surreal mix of Andalusian roots, cosmopolitan wanderlust, and obsessive curiosity. His art is naïve, conceptual, and intentionally imperfect: flat perspectives, rudimentary techniques, and unpredictable outcomes give each piece kitsch, personality, and grotesque charm. Inspired by eccentric people, peculiar anecdotes, and the absurdities of life—from Holy Week processions with freshmen balanced on doors, to goat-bleating classmates, to the chaos of global cities.
I find the greatest joy in using my skills to visualize the thoughts and emotions of others. Everything that could be called my artistic identity has been nurtured through communication with society via my work. I interpret and reconstruct the concepts behind products and narratives through my own perspective, transforming them into visual expressions.
I find inspiration everywhere. In recent years, however, I have been working with space research and science fiction. But nature, micro/macro also still has a big place in my world.

I grew up in a beautiful beach town in central California where creativity was all around. I can't recall a specific time when I became interested in art because as far back as I could remember it has been ingrained in me and has been trying to kick it's way out ever since. Learning about Walt disney at a young age had to be my first "eye opening" moment of knowing what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Later on I decided to enroll in the Art Institute of Orange County and finished with my bachelors of science degree in Industrial Design.

Freelance illustrator by day, creature designer by night.
I assemble original photography, assorted papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink and pencil in my works. The variety of resources I am able to use has proved indispensable to me. The biggest challenge the collage medium posed was its unforgiving lack of transparency. Finding a way to replicate the effects of transparency afforded by paint, especially water colours, was “a large victory” for me . The preparing labor shows through in my collages; layer upon layer of material remains visible in the finished pieces.
