Artist Spotlight - Dana Ingesson
Biography
Born in Czech Republic and later the wings of love carried me to Sweden.
I love to paint watercolor but also in oil and acrylic in my studio in Tidaholm.
My paintings are an expression of my feelings, life experiences and emotional maturity. I work primarily in watercolor and create dreamy compositions that blend the figurative and the abstract.

Light writes a new chapter despite darkness. 2023. Watercolor. 56 x 76 cm
Her paintings move in a poetic landscape, where the said is often hidden between the lines, and the unsaid is allowed to take its place. – I see my art as a story in constant motion, where color and form are my words, inspired by the Japanese philosophy Wabi Sabi, where the imperfect, temporary and aged are seen as something beautiful, she says. In her work, the fragile and timeless are allowed to live side by side – as a reminder that everything changes, but never really disappears.

A lifelong journey in image and feeling
Expressing herself through color and form has always been a natural part of Dana Ingesson's life. Her artistic path has been marked by strong milestones – such as exhibiting at the Louvre near the Mona Lisa, and receiving an award in Cannes from Marina Picasso. But what drives her forward is something even deeper. – It is the inner longing to continue telling that makes me create. Inspiration from the fragile moments of everyday life
More than a feeling. 2021. Watercolor. 56 x 76 cm
Dana draws her inspiration from everyday life – both the small and the big. – Joy, sadness, small moments, big events. A fragment of a day can carry an entire story. Regardless of whether she works in watercolor, acrylic or oil, her work carries the same poetic breath – but it is watercolor that is closest to her. – It is the most difficult and most vivid technique, she says.
Shadow of a doubt. 2023. Watercolor. 56 x76
Between the figurative and the abstract Dana lets intuition lead her creation. Sometimes a single line is enough – other times the painting develops slowly. A special tool in her process is the palette knife. – It is powerful but sensitive, and helps me both shape lines and challenge the technique.

Encounters between art and music

A landscape of memories and stillness

Escape to wonderland. 2025. Watercolor. 56 x 56 cm
For Dana, art is more than an expression – it is a way of life, a place where feelings take shape and thoughts rest. The dream of the future is as simple as it is powerful. – She hope that art will carry her on – across dark waters to brighter currents. Ultimately. Her art it is not just paintings - it is a psychological landscape
