Statement

For me, artistic self-expression always includes the need for self-training. I therefore try out different painting and drawing techniques again and again, I follow the current art scene and visit important art exhibitions for inspiration and instruction. My inspiration develops from my own imagination, or from the perceived world of poetry, nature or simply from my surroundings. I consistently developed my personal, unmistakable style over the years.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

The inclination towards art was strong from childhood. As a growing child, I leafed through the art books of my grandfather, who worked as a painter and restaurateur, at an early age - and made my first attempts at painting. As well as painting and drawing in the context of school education, as well as further art courses at the adult education center, provided my artistic basis. The subsequent artistic work with Irene Schuh at the Frankfurt Art School and, above all, the courses at the Frankfurt Städel School were formative and led to further artistic development at school. Since 2001 I have been able to present their results to the public in numerous exhibitions

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

I see myself primarily as an autodidact. For me, artistic self-expression always includes the need for self-training. I, therefore, try out different painting and drawing techniques, again and again, I follow the current art scene and visit important art exhibitions for inspiration and instruction. My inspiration develops from my own imagination, or from the perceived world of poetry, nature, or simply from my surroundings. I consistently developed my personal, unmistakable style over the years.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

"Where great forces ripen and express themselves in their highest power, there are the times of art." This sentence by the art writer Wilhelm Heinse applies to me in three ways: It is the forces of the "inner artistic urge" to practice art; it is the forces that have to be "invested" for this, and ultimately the forces that are "released in the creative process". I have chosen this artistic maxim of «Sturm und Drang» as the motto for my self-portrayal on the Internet. With her protest against the absolute rule of reason and her emphasis on the emotional world, she corresponds to a high degree to my understanding of art.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

My works of art are mostly created unconsciously and intuitively from my imagination. They are predominantly abstract or surreal works that depict visionary, bizarre, and unfathomable figures, or landscapes and structures that emerge from the unconscious and defy interpretation. But geometric and organic shapes, lines, and colors also give my pictures a very personal style. Some of my abstract works are painted in oil or acrylic colors. The motifs used are predominantly environmental and nature impressions, which later emerge intuitively as a fantasy structure.

What is your favorite part of the creative process?

The work of art itself develops out of a painting process, i.e. first the intellectual framework and the construction, the sheet division, is roughly determined. The works of art on display are stimulating, painterly impressions that have a very specific dynamic, their own open development process. They are compelling thoughts that develop into a flowing canon of innermost sensations on the canvas. That is why they cannot be repeated. For me, artistic inspiration, expression, and free creativity are very important. Often several materials flow into a total work of art. The overall composition is in the foreground.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

My inspiration comes from my own imagination. That's why I try out different painting and drawing techniques over and over again and thus develop new shapes and color gradients. For the near future, my works of art will be larger and more imaginative again.
