Biography

My name is RENUKA SRIDHAR.
The 4 P’s - PASSION, PATIENCE, PRACTISE AND PERSEVERANCE - A Passion for art, the Patience to Practise, and the Perseverance to continue despite failures - That’s what my art journey has been all about. With no formal training in art, it wasn’t an easy journey. But thanks to technology, I could learn how to paint from the comfort of my home through online tutorials.
I have conducted two workshops and won many awards in online art competitions. I have totally 8 exhibitions to my credit, both, at national and international levels.
I have always believed that one must give back to the society in whichever way possible. I get that satisfaction by donating 20% of my earnings from my art sales.
I am eternally grateful and thankful to God for blessing me with this talent, all my YouTube and other online tutors, my parents, all my dear family members and friends for always being supportive and encouraging me to embark on this wonderful journey which will continue without a destination for years to come. Art is my solution to relax and de-stress..it is like meditation..!!!

Artist Statement

I am an Indian artist, CREATING ART FROM THE HEART because “I art-iculate with art when i know no other language to express myself”

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

During childhood, art was my favourite hobby. I remember drawing and painting on any surface that I could find – walls, old record plates, broken marble pieces, fabrics, wooden boards, glass...just about anything.!! Gradually this hobby turned into a passion & that still continues. All said n done with no formal training in art, it wasn’t an easy journey. Here is where technology came to my rescue. I settled overseas after marriage. With ample free time at my disposal, I could follow various online tutorials that taught me how to paint different subjects from the comfort of my home

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

I am an artist who likes to portray life, vibrancy and positivity through my artworks. So, I would call myself an exuberant artist

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

Today people around the globe are going through a tough time battling the coronavirus. I wish to spread, peace, serenity, tranquillity and above all hope through my artworks.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

I do not stick to one particular genre of art. If you see my work, you will find a variety of genres like landscapes, wildlife, florals, Buddha, Mandalas, Persian Illumination art, pour painting etc. so it would be really difficult to explain the process involved in each. But what matters most is the satisfaction I get when I achieve success after repeated failures to master one genre. The feeling is ultimate that can’t be expressed in words.

What is your favourite part of the creative process?

My favourite part of the creative process is watching a blank canvas or paper come to life with a beautiful piece of art. The peace that engulfs me while I am creating them is priceless.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

Recently I have started creating Dot mandalas and Dutch pours. This new venture has been liked and appreciated by all those who follow my work. Dutch pours are still in the experimental stage. I am working on it to get the right paint consistency to attain that perfect Dutch pour.
