Will Taylor
Biography
My name is William (Will) Taylor, I’m 26, and I’m a contemporary artist from Southern California. After leaving formal academia behind at 18, I took my own artistic path, drawing from different teachings, art books, and art courses. I work out of a small bedroom studio and share my work online and at art shows, mainly in the LA area. I have collectors all around the United States and a few overseas. Combining layered abstraction with snippets of poetic text, my work emphasizes introspection and rich emotional experience. In many ways I’m an introvert, so my work tends to focus on inner journeys.
Artist Statement
My paintings combine text and texture-based abstraction to create unique atmospheres. I mainly use acrylic paint, oil sticks, and towels for smearing textures, building each painting one layer at a time. A finished piece may have up to 12 layers of paint. Above all, my goal is to share insight into our personal landscape and give some ease and clarity through the difficulties of modern times.
