Interview with Aleksandra Ciążyńska

Interview with Aleksandra Ciążyńska

I was born in 1987 in Poland. I am a graduate of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw and a passionate painter. I have loved to paint since I was a child. For many years I participated in classes conducted by prof Paweł Lewandowski-Palle, where I trained my workshop. It was there that I fell in love with art even more, especially painting. There, I took part in various competitions. I won, among others, the first place in the national competition for children and youth, entitled "Man and his work" and the Golden Palette in the international competition in Macedonia. My paintings have been at exhibitions in, among others, New York, Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Ajdovščina.

How would you describe yourself and your artwork?
I was born in 1987 in Poland, I am a graduate of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw, and a passionate painter. Art is my great passion which I try to develop every day. A passion that is extremely interesting and addictive, because thanks to it I am constantly learning something new. Yes, art is eternal learning that allows you to pay attention to things that are imperceptible to others. Discover the beauty of the world around us, the uniqueness of forms, colors and shapes that accompany us imperceptibly every day. It allows you to discover yourself, look into the recesses of the soul and constantly finds new faces. The ability to paint pictures is a gift that needs to be cared for every day. I am glad that I can share this gift with the world.

How do you go about beginning a new piece? Do you have an idea already in mind, or do you start working with materials or sketches to find the departure point?
I always imagine already finished painting. I make small sketches in a special notebook. When you create, ideas come to your head all the time, so there are many sketches in this notebook. Then I paint a picture on the basis of one of these sketches. I see the end result in my head and I try to pursue it.

When do you think your most prolific time of day or week is?
I try to paint every day. I create paintings in my apartment, usually in the morning when the light is at its best. I paint alone. Isolation brings out a creative spirit in me. I like those hours spent alone with the easel.

What is a barrier you as an artist overcame? Is there anything that enabled you to develop your work as an artist in your life?

Being an artist these days is difficult. I overcome the related barriers every day. Persistence, determination and diligence are the factors that allow me to overcome all difficulties, to develop, and to go my own way. Additionally, even the smallest success gives me motivation to continue working and confirms that I am following the right path.

Did you have an idea of what you wanted to create right from the beginning?
No. In my works, I tried many painting techniques, I experimented with them to achieve progress and develop my own aesthetics. Currently, I like painting with oil paints and watercolors. I appreciate watercolors for their unpredictability and transparency. Oil paints, on the other hand, offer great versatility. They have beautiful colors and offer many possibilities. They “stole my heart”. I am currently working on three series of paintings: „Touch”, „Gardens of Eden” and „Fairly- tale worlds”.

What is the meaning or creative inspiration for your work? We’re curious what the narrative or story is to what you are producing?
For me, art is one of the forms of communicating with people, communicating without words. Through it, I can express my opinion on important topics in a non-verbal way, convey my thoughts and the way I perceive the world. Thanks to it, I have the opportunity to describe the reality that surrounds me in my own way. Everything that is important to me, what amazes and inspires me. In my paintings, I try to show the beauty of the world around us, the uniqueness of forms, colors and shapes that accompany us imperceptibly every day. Art allows me to discover myself, allows me to look into the recesses of my soul and constantly find new faces of my soul.

Besides your artworks, are there any other things in life that your voice as an artist may consider vital or valuable? What makes you joyful and creative, in other words?
Apart from painting, I also like learning foreign languages. I especially like the French language. Learning a language teaches you to be systematic and determined, and these features are useful for an artist. It also allows you to get to know a different culture and customs, and this provides a lot of inspiration. I also like to model in clay. I create vases, boxes, figurines and lamps. I also read a lot of books that allow me to develop my imagination.

Are there any exhibitions or places where people can see these beautiful creations in person soon? Anything on the horizon?
My artworks can be seen at exhibitions:
-Art between thoughts and spontaneity, PAKS Gallery in Munich (Germany), 9.03- 20.09.2022
-Exhibition in Marziart international Gallery, Hamburg (Germany), 18.03-13.04.2022
