Artist Statement

Art & inspiration: “My soul is strongly inclined to softness and roundness, to fluid lines and shapes, to space in and around my objects. In my objects, I like to refer to the spirit world and the heavenly atmosphere, represented through the fluent shapes, the presence of shadow and the colors.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

My first thought of becoming an artist was determined by my feelings. After all, I loved beautiful things. Ever since I was a child I was a creator.

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

Originally I am a plastic designer. I love nature and the natural materials, I love curves and flowing lines, I love the carnal, I love contrasts rough - smooth, round - straight, color in combination with natural materials, the endlessness of the horizon when you reach the sea, of rocks in combination with water, life and spirituality. The earthly materials wood, clay, glass, water mean contact with the earth for me. Colors and shadows give me a supernatural feeling. Together it is a kind of longing for love and melancholy from beautiful moments in my life.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

What I want to achieve is innovation. But deep feelings are predominant in the elaboration of my objects. Maybe I don't create alone. “My soul is strongly inclined to softness and roundness, to fluid lines and shapes, to space in and around my objects. In my objects, I like to refer to the spirit world and the heavenly atmosphere, represented through the fluent shapes, the presence of shadow and the colors.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

The process of creating is determined by my inspiration, feelings, the moment, the energy in and around me, drive. Technically, I don't find this process that interesting. Sawing, drilling, sanding, screws, paints. What else do you want to know. It takes a lot of strength.

What is your favourite part of the creative process?

The moment that I have outdone myself is my favorite part.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?
