Biography

Born 1950 in Bitburg, Germany, I finished school 1968 to become a physicist. But 3 years later I had to interrupt for one and a half year because of a serious disease. Thereafter I changed to study art. 1978 I started to work as art teacher at the high school in Schleswig and continued until 2015.

Big Bang, 2026, Wood and acrylic colour, 80 x 80 x 80 cm

I started carving sculptures, building furniture and painting during my studies and exhibited sculpture since 1980 in Schleswig, Munich, Seeshaupt, Murnau and later in Venecia, Rome, Madrid, Cologne and Essen. After retiring 2015 as teacher I created mainly sculptures, while painting became less important to me.

Artist Statement

Creating forms like sculptures and building funktional things like furniture or kayaks is my passion. Art also is well funktional by suggesting thoughts and stimulating consciousness and feeling or even if just causing joy and pleasure.

Gravitation, 2016, Wood, 30 x 23 x 17 cm

My work was done most undetected and uninfluenced of the art market, though I got loads of inspiration from art of all cultures and epochs.

The girl catches the ball, 2024, Wood, 112 x 160 x 39 cmGuardian spirit,

And people, music, rhythm, wilderness, spirituality and failure influenced my artwork as they influenced me. So maybe my work could mean something for somebody. I couldn´t want more.
