Artist Statement
My art embodies the profound connection between humanity and the waters of the world. Through my hyperrealist oil paintings of seascapes that capture the dynamic interplay of light and water, and introspective self-portraits that express the link between water and femininity, I explore the hidden depths within both nature and self.
Liquid Gold, 2021. Oil on wood panel, 18x36".
Photographs are a point of departure for my work, capturing an instant in time, whereas my paintings capture weeks or months in time: the time of their making and the facture of every brush stroke. Each artwork invites viewers to dive into a world where emotion and reality converge, encouraging a deeper understanding of our place in the universe. The ebb and flow of the tides mirror the complexities of human life, making each piece a journey into the heart of existence.
Sotto lo stesso sole (Under the same sun), 2018. Oil on wood panel, 50x45".
As a contemporary painter I seek to express the gift of water and the importance of cherishing and preserving this natural resource. I work in the traditional medium of oil paints because when applied thinly, the blending capabilities can achieve and add detail, depth, and sensuality to my work, virtually with an invisible brushstroke.
