Biography

I am a British Born Greek Cypriot Artist, I completed a Degree with Honours, in Fine Art in 2009, at The University of Chester. I am currently studying an online Art Therapy course (CPD accredited & CMA registered). My art career only began when I left catering in my early 30’s, stemming from a purely private therapy which got me through difficult times due to long term health conditions Hemicrania Continua and Fibromyalgia. After working in a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities School as a Teaching Assistant, coupled with my own experiences, I aspire to introduce others to the idea of art as a form of therapeutic expression and escape, I found it invaluable during my darkest days. Particularly as a I’m not comfortable expressing my emotions verbally. I spent years unable to articulate my emotions but through my Art I found my voice, it’s so powerful to be able to speak your mind in whatever way resonates with you. I want to share my journey so that others have exposure to this form of expression, if they resonate with it, they can utilise this tool for the rest of their lives, helping them through their dark days too.

Artist Statement

2019 - 2021 has been the most difficult and heart wrenching time of my life. Yet, despite all the personal and health problems, I’ve completely changed my life for the better. Art is so much more than something to hang on a wall. It’s a lifeline, when I hit my absolute rock bottom, Art was my therapy, my passion and the only way I could express myself. Art gave me a voice and a channel to broadcast. I’m profoundly grateful to now call myself a ‘full time Artist’, I’ve been so fortunate to have had opportunities come my way to exhibit in M.A.D.S. Contemporary Art Gallery in Milan, the innovative online exhibition with The Virtual Artists and being featured in the outstanding Contemporary Art Curator Online Magazine. I share my journey not for recognition but to inspire others. It’s incredible how life’s devastations can actually be the best thing to happen to you, without them I would not be who I am or doing what I love today. I share my story to give hope to others, introduce people to the therapeutic benefits of art and for them to know, no matter how bad it gets, things can turn around.
