Biography
Pilbri ® Britta Neumärker
Pilbri® is the artistic identity of German contemporary artist Britta Neumärker, whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, experimental photography, and Contemporary Hybrid Art.
Her artistic journey began in 2004, following an accident that permanently altered her visual perception through double vision (diplopia). This experience profoundly influenced her understanding of reality, perception, and the relationship between external observation and internal experience.
Neumärker completed a two-year independent masterclass in painting and drawing under Hannelore E. Busch, a former student of Joseph Beuys. Since 2005, she has worked in her own studio, developing an independent artistic language that moves between abstraction, photography, and digital transformation.
Over more than two decades, her artistic practice has evolved through interconnected series exploring perception, inner landscapes, emotional states, and the invisible relationships that shape human experience.
Her guiding philosophy, “Everything is connected with Everything,” finds expression in her series 2+1=3 - Everything is connected with Everything (2025-ongoing), in which different artistic origins and visual structures become the foundation for new, autonomous hybrid compositions.
Her current series, Walking Brain (2026-ongoing), extends this exploration into questions of consciousness, memory, identity, neural connectivity, and human resonance.
Her interdisciplinary approach also encompasses sculptural concepts for architectural and public spaces, expanding her visual language beyond the two-dimensional artwork.
Her work has received international recognition, including the Future of Art Global Masterpiece Award 2024, the Collectors Art Prize 2025, and the Artist of the Year 2025 distinction presented by Fondazione Effetto Arte in Florence. Her work was also presented during Rome Art Week 2025.
Through her evolving artistic practice, Pilbri® creates visual spaces that invite reflection, challenge habitual perception, and explore the connections between individual experience and the wider world.
Artist Statement
Walking Brain - Perception, Memory and the Invisible Connections of Consciousness
My artistic practice is driven by a fundamental question: How do we perceive reality, and what connects the visible world with the invisible processes of the human mind?
Through painting, photography, sculptural experimentation, and digital transformation, I explore the boundaries between external reality and internal experience. My work is not intended to illustrate scientific concepts, but to create visual interpretations of perception, memory, identity, and consciousness.
My ongoing series Walking Brain (2026) investigates the complexity of neural networks and the constantly evolving relationships between thought, emotion, and human connection.
Organic structures, abstract formations, layered imagery, and dynamic movements become metaphors for the processes through which we perceive, remember, and construct our sense of self.
A central aspect of my practice is the transformation of existing artistic material into new forms of expression.
One example is Neural Orbit (2026), whose origins reach back to my photographic series Floating Objects (2013). At that time, I created small, temporary sculptures from polymer clay and preserved their forms through photography.
Thirteen years later, I digitally transformed one of these photographs into Neural Orbit, integrating its original sculptural structure with imagery inspired by the human brain.
The process continued with Neural Orbit - 3D Sculpture Concept (2026), a proposal for a large-scale installation in architectural and public spaces. The original sculptural form thus returns to the third dimension, transformed through photography, digital art, and time.
This circular development reflects my understanding of artistic creation as an ongoing dialogue between past and present, material and immaterial, perception and imagination.
In Walking Brain, I am particularly interested in the idea of resonance: the possibility that art can establish a meaningful relationship between the artwork, the viewer, and the surrounding world.
Rather than offering definitive answers, my works invite viewers to discover their own associations, memories, and emotional responses.
