Biography

Yiannis Galanakis studied at the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Since 2012, his artistic focus has shifted into the realm of digital photo editing and compositing, adding a new dimension to his creative endeavors.

His photographic work has been presented in a variety of contexts, including group and solo art exhibitions, as well as recognized international competitions and festivals, with awards and publications in international art magazines and books.

Artist Statement

My images present a “perverted” reality imbued with elements of fantasy.
I view them as narrative passages, cinematic frames, or reflective essays on our fragmented, fluid, and transitional world – metaphors for diverse perspectives and responses to the pressing issues of our modern era.

On the other hand, the image seems to be testing—playfully—the reconstruction of its own language, dreaming of tomorrow within its present.

It is content to surprise itself, to tell a story using the technological tools of its time, to invent its own syntax and plastic elements in pursuit of a renewed narration or representation, envisioning and ultimately inventing its own aesthetic.
