Biography

Reinhardt Takeo Hollstein is a Seattle-based mixed-media artist renowned for pioneering the fusion of traditional painting with interactive technology. Born in Salina, Kansas, in 1961, he relocated to Seattle at a young age and developed a passion for art early on.

Although he initially pursued a career in the electrical trade, Hollstein's artistic inclinations led him to explore innovative ways to integrate electronics into his artwork. His background in the electrical industry provided him with the technical expertise to experiment with electronic components in his artwork.

Artist Statement

In 2017, Hollstein embarked on creating "Touch Audible Paintings" (T.A.P.), a groundbreaking art form that combines visual elements with auditory experiences. These interactive paintings incorporate conductive materials and electronic components, allowing viewers to trigger sounds or music by touching the artwork.

Utilizing conductive paint and processor boards, Hollstein's paintings respond to touch, creating a dynamic and immersive experience for the audience. I plan to teach other artists this technique and build a sustainable business by offering buyers a unique art support and maintenance service.
