Biography

Mario Pratesi was born in Florence in 1972. Since he was a child he has always preferred reading comics that contributed to the formation of the artist's creativity. Thanks to his mother, a teacher, he was introduced to the study of classical subjects.

Furthermore, from an early age, thanks to his parents, he had the opportunity to travel, and therefore to open his mind. He currently lives in the province of Florence, and works in a bank. He has lived with his beloved Angiola for over 20 years.

Artist Statement

Mario's pictorial style is very close to expressionism and fauvism, with a very personal cut. Born as a video maker, he moved to painting in 2018, essentially in oil, on cardboard and canvas. In 2025 he also created sculptures, such as bas-reliefs.

He has exhibited in various Italian cities, including Rome Pienza Florence Siena Bologna Venice. Mario's imagination spans various environments, cultures, historical and non-historical characters, and prehistory.

The idea comes suddenly and can be realized in a few hours (even a few minutes), other times the design of the work is more thoughtful, almost metabolized.
