Artist Statement

Lidia Barbara Gordon is a pioneer in exhibitions dedicated to the theme of “Children in Art.” For decades, she has exhibited works on this subject in cities such as Hilden and Düsseldorf. Her primary goal is to understand the child as a subject in its own right and to reveal the essence of childhood itself.

Nachwuchs der Commedia Dell Arte:Clown,Harlekin,Pierot,Colombina.2018,Acryl auf Leinwand,85x50 cm

Gordon seeks to portray children as they truly are: their joy and spontaneity, their originality, contentment, and seriousness. Her paintings are characterized by a rich color palette, freely imagined forms of figures and plants, and inventive patterns.

Another important focus of her work is imaginative photo collages and photography. Through her visionary dreamlike images, she reveals the inner worlds of people and their imaginations in ways never seen before. Gordon presents depictions of the real world alongside a subtle sense of foreboding that reality itself is transient and impermanent.

She achieves this not only through naturalistic representation but also through abstract forms and colors, employing a wide range of artistic approaches, including painting, ceramics, graphic art, and photography.
