Artist Statement

I paint beloved and familiar landscapes from my immediate surroundings at different seasons and times. The thinking is influenced by the Impressionist current, whereby the painters repeatedly painted the same places at different times while expressing their feelings.
I create fantastic and imaginative landscapes with large and fast brush strokes, without careful planning, like a painting in the consciousness of a dream, in intense colorfulness which expresses my energetic character. I create mainly on medium and large canvases. This is how I manage to express a sense of space and freedom.
I often paint in strong and optimistic colors that also give me a sense of hope, joy and vitality, while reflecting on my inner world. The landscapes are kind of general and generic so that each viewer can see them differently.
Recently I have been painting abstract and completely imaginary landscapes. These works deal with longing for my beloved family and friends through new content such as childishness, gameplay, illustration, and wellbeing.

What first prompted you to think of becoming an artist?

I have been painting since I was a child. It was my unique way to express myself, I received several   awards and   it motivated   me to continue to learn art and art therapy as well in the university. I used to go to many art museums with my family and friends, and I was influenced by the impressionist and expressionist artists. In the beginning of my artistic career I illustrated nine children's books.  The colors   used   are   similar to the joyful and expressive color in   my acrylic paintings. When my children grew up I started to exhibit in Europe and the USA. Several years ago I was privileged to be named as one of the finalists in a well-known competition in Europe, leading to   further exhibitions in Europe   and USA and   publications in art magazines. My representation via PAKS Gallery   included showing   with other   artists at the Fiac event at Carousel du Louvre   ,Mamag  Modern art museum  in Austria.

What kind of an artist do you ultimately see yourself?

I am an international artist based in Israel. I am represented by PAKS Gallery.    I also work as   an art therapist with youth at risk   . As an artist   I sell my artworks   via   galleries, my website and online   . I donate   ten percent of   my profit from my art to children at risk. My dream as an artist is to exhibit in major galleries and museums   in Israel, Europe and USA, as well as in small and unknown locations, because I think that everybody should have the opportunity to enjoy seeing   art   . I   paint   landscapes with a very expressionistic and expressive way   , expressing not only the environment   , the weather and the hour of the day but also my feelings   in a way that everybody can relate   , with their own thoughts and mood.  This is my way   expressing my feelings and thoughts in an impressionistic and expressive colorful and dynamic manner. The views that I paint can relate to many places around the world, so the viewers can feel and maybe imagine their own landscapes and   connect to their feelings and relate to the painting in their own unique way of experiencing life.

What are you hoping to communicate to the viewer through your work?

Most of my artworks are inspired by the beautiful views of Israel, especially in my area. I paint landscape with a very impressionistic and expressive way, showing   not only the environment, the weather and the hour of the day, but also my feelings and my thoughts in a way that everybody can relate to it with their own thoughts and moods. The scenes   I paint can relate to many places around the world. I feel that art can affect people and my mission as an artist is to trigger a positive change in the people who see my art, so that they may feel more optimistic and energetic. As an art therapist with children at risk my mission is the same, to give them hope, optimism and vitality.

Can you explain the process of creating your work?

Often   I paint the within my neighborhood, and the North of Israel. The environment I paint is nature that I love. I used to go up north   with my parents when I was young, and later with my own family and friends. The atmosphere, in the different   hours of the day, with the changing light, the horizon, the flowers and the trees, all affect me deeply. Sometimes I paint in the open space, other times I make photographs and paint in my studio at home. I prefer to paint a painting   where you can see the sky and the horizon. To me these symbolize hope and optimism. A few years ago I visited Japan. It was a wonderful trip. Seeing the pink cherry blossom was the most fascinating and extraordinary experience. It affected me deeply. I came home and   I painted a series of cherry blossom paintings, I continue painting this subject.

What is your favorite part of the creative process?

My favorite part of my creative process is at the middle of the painting   process. I paint rapidly with strong and quick    brushstrokes without   precise planning, in an uncontiouse situation, like in   a dream situation.  When I see my complete   art it really surprises me.

Can you give us an insight into current projects and inspiration, or what we can look forward to from you in the near future?

I exhibit with talented artists   at Rome at Atelier Montez Gallery and at Venice international Art Fair   2021 .I   am so happy to participate during the summer   at a residency Villa R in Sicily   . On October I will exhibit at the fiac event at Paris Carrousel du Louvre via PAKS Gallery .I will exhibit at Florence Biennale during the fall. My artworks are waiting in NY   for the Art Expo and for   Spectrum Miami   event which was postponed. I am really excited .It is a great honor for me.
