Cheryl Richardson
Biography
Cheryl is an Australian artist living in Sydney. In 2004 she began Acrylics and since then has appeared in group and solo shows and also appeared as a finalist in Art Prizes. Her medium of choice today is acrylic and her artworks are layered in order to achieve a richness of depth. She communicates through her art releasing raw emotion onto the canvas. All of the works she creates are through personal experience and interests and her inspiration comes from the beautiful landscapes and coastlines in Australia.
Artist Statement
After many years of painting watercolour and Chinese brush painting I began painting with acrylics in 2004. Over time the three mediums have fused together. The unexpected result is a fresh new style with syrupy washes, brush marks and paint drips together with blocks of colour that eventually contribute to the creation of a life being born on canvas. "I hope my landscapes transport the viewer to another place so they can make their own stories."
