Interview with Da Vynci

Could you please introduce yourself and tell us how you started in the arts? and your first experience in art making?

Hi I'm Davy aka Da Vynci . I'm thirty and originally from a small town in Belgium , Liege.

I began photography in 2012 with a self-educated approach after my studies in a school of art (training of advertising executive/copywriter).

I'm not looking to have or make THE perfect photo but to reflect, pass and feel an emotion to the viewer. Sometimes just see the world around in a different way.

How would you describe yourself and your artwork?

I will describe myself as someone jovial and sociable, who likes the relationship, who believes in the man and who hopes that the Man will find a more central place in the life of every day.

I will describe my main artworks as a reflection of today's society, which brings us little by little to a glory and nostalgia for the past.

I don't want to be moralistic, just make us think about some excesses and errors of the modern world.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I find my inspiration without really looking for it. Most of the time, my inspiration comes from everywhere according to my history, my education, my state of mind, but a lot of the world that surrounds me.

What emotions do you hope the viewers experience when looking at your art?

Each person is totally different as well as his perception. It depends on a lot of things, his life, his history, his work, his education, his social environment, and so on.

The two emotions I hope to make are "curiosity and interrogation", they will send us implicitly and naturally on other emotions

When do you know that an artwork is finished ?

I could give many answers to this question but I believe that an artwork is never really finished. It could be when the viewer finds an answer, a meaning to his own curiosity and his own interrogation.

What has been the most exciting moment in your art career so far?

The most exciting moments in my artistic career are the different exhibitions that I have already done.

As the viewer doesn't know my true face (I always have a mask on my self-portraits). I go to meet people incognito, I observe and talk with them while having a positive and / or negative return of what they think, feel, etc ...

I find it always interesting and exciting.

How long does it take to produce one work?

I don't have a fixed time to produce an artwork, it can take a day, as it can take weeks or even months, it depends on my desires, my state of mind, or just having the pleasure of working on a picture with a certain distance.

What exciting projects are you working on right now? Can you share some of the future plans for your artworks?

I continue to work on my main project "The lost world" without forgetting my other inspirations.

Do you have any upcoming events or exhibitions we should know about?

Becoming dad recently, I have no upcoming events or exhibitions. I want to enjoy my greatest artwork for the moment.

Where do you see your art going in five years?

I would like to exhibit more and more around the world, get more missions to produce photos, find a sponsor, travel the world to expand my artworks, like to see my artworks published in books, and can be who knows how to work with other artistic backgrounds (models, sculptures, paintings, etc.) to evolve my artistic work.
